(OOG Note: Due to the nature of creatures raised in Echisis players may not be from there at this time. You are welcome to play any of our available Fae races in the rule book but you must have, for reasons you may decide on your own, have been brought up somewhere on Wraithvale.)
The creation of Echisis is attributed to the Goddess Kaeliph but the nature of The Fae, and their society in general, legend credits to The Lady of Chaos. The lands of Echisis are a mismatch of kingdoms haphazardly founded since the realms creation. Despite the proliferation of kingdoms most Fae fall within one of two factions: The Seelie Court or The Unseelie Court. The understanding of Sentients is that the Seelie are the brighter, kinder, and more honorable of the two Courts. The Unseelie are more malevolent, taking pleasure in cruelty and trickery.
The largest kingdom in Echisis, The Court of Enigma, has made treaties with the Sentient rulers of Wraithvale to rein in the other kingdoms so that The Neighbors and the citizens of Wraithvale can live more harmoniously than they have in the past. Most knowledge of conflicts between The Fae and Sentients have been forgotten because of this, though some parents still threaten their children that they will trade them to The Folk of Echisis if they won't do their chores or eat their vegetables.
If you will be playing a Faerie race see below for a bit more information you would know. Even though you were not raised in Echisis you were likely raised by someone who was or you have visited to meet your long lived relatives. This bit of extra insight has taught you that there is actually very little difference between the Seelie and Unseelie Courts. While it is not universal, and whichever Court your family comes from will insist they are better than the other, members of both Courts have a penchant to be self serving, manipulative, and tricky. The only noticeable difference is those of the Seelie Court are more prone to making their acts seem generous and kind whereas Unseelie courtiers are more up front. In addition there are actually two different types of Courts a Fae may pledge themselves to: The High Courts of Seelie and Unseelie and the Kingdom Courts of Echisis. Either choice is often heavily based on where a Faes family is from and one's temperament. To be Seelie is to be pledged to The Bright Lord Oberon and wish to be amongst those who are more lighthearted and friendly, though this does not necessarily mean one is any less self serving. To be Unseelie is to prefer a darker, and some would argue more straightforward, attitude about matters, offering fealty and service to The Matriarch Lady Titania. Choosing which Kingdom Court you wish to pledge fealty to is a simpler choice, based more on where someone wishes to live. Most Kingdom Courts correspond to either a Seelie or Unseelie view of things but in addition to pledging to Titania or Oberon you also pledge yourself to the King or Queen of the land on which you reside. As someone raised outside of Echisis you may have chosen not to pledge yourself to the Seelie or Unseelie path and there has been no need to pledge yourself to a Kingdom Court since you do not reside in Echisis.
